What is Technical Assistance (TA)?

Technical Assistance (TA) is a service and resource for programs and organizations that aims to strengthen mentoring quality and effectiveness. During TA, you work one-on-one with an expert in the mentoring field. Our TA Providers focus on your needs and coach you through more deeply incorporating evidence-based practices, ultimately leading to greater positive outcomes.

Who can receive TA?

TMP offers customized technical assistance, consulting, and training support to private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

What support can TMP provide through TA?

Examples of potential technical assistance that might be requested include:  development of high-quality mentor training materials guidance and consultation on mentor recruitment plans and screening strategies analysis and improvement of match support processes recommendations on best practices for serving challenging youth populations or designing innovative service models

National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS)

The National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS) provides a structured, systematic process for assessing the quality of a mentoring program’s practices in alignment with the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™. When you participate in NQMS, you’ll work one-on-one with a TA Provider who will assist your program in identifying existing quality practices, acknowledging areas for improvement, and developing action plans to meet national standards. Throughout the process, TMP provides ongoing training and support to achieve your program goals.  The core components of the NQMS are:

  • Self-assessment survey completed by the mentoring program
  • Review and summary response prepared by TMP
  • Assessment review meeting between the mentoring program and TMP
  • Development of goals and a work plan for the program to make quality improvements with the help of training and support provided by TMP
  • National and/or local recognition of the program upon satisfactory engagement in the quality assessment and improvement process
How much does it cost?

No-Cost Technical Assistance

The Mentoring Partnership is proud to be a technical assistance provider for The National Mentoring Resource Center (NMRC), a project of The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and MENTOR. This no-cost resource aims to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of youth mentoring programs across the nation and is comprised of three components: The National Mentoring Resource Center Research Board; the National Mentoring Resource Center website; and no-cost specialized technical assistance for mentoring programs. The NMRC’s resources and technical assistance are in alignment with the national standards for quality, evidence-based mentoring, The Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™. Most youth-serving organizations and mentoring programs are eligible for no-cost technical assistance through the NMRC.
