Social Capital 101 - Basics & Inspiration

What is social capital?  Why does social capital matter? How can school and program staff help students build and tap into their social networks?

This 2-hour training is designed for school and program staff to introduce them to the concept of social capital and ways in which they can support young people in growing and tapping into their networks. 

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Define social capital
  • Describe how relationships provide resources
  • Reflect on the importance of social capital
  • Identify at least 3 ways they can help students build social capital

This training can be taken as a standalone or followed up with our additional sessions: Social Capital 102 – Mindsets & Supports followed by Social Capital 103 – Practices & Activities.  This session can be customized to meet your needs.
