Introduction to TMP Services & Elements of Effective Practice

Wednesday, September 20, 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

This informational session is intended to introduce mentoring programs to the technical assistance, training, and network services provided by The Mentoring Partnership. The foundation of our services is based on the six Elements of Effective Practice, a collection of research-informed practices for youth mentoring programs. You will learn those elements as part of this session. Attending this training is also the first step in the Quality Coaching process. Sessions are currently being done virtually. Training for Mentors and Mentees


Virtual Mentoring 101 Training

Saturday, September 9, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Wednesday, September 27, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

This interactive training program provides participants with an introduction to mentoring and what to expect as a mentor. Topics like the "mentoring lifecycle," communication skills, establishing boundaries, and appreciating diversity will make it easier for mentors to navigate relationships with their mentees. This training is appropriate to introduce new volunteers to the field of mentoring and to refresh current mentors on best practices. Get Ready for the 2023-2024 NMRC Grant Cycle!

The 2023-2024 NMRC Grant Cycle starts in October so mark your calendars! Through the NMRC, our experienced technical assistance providers are able to provide programs and youth-serving organizations with no-cost support. Whether you want help creating an onboarding and training plan for volunteers, developing processes for collecting feedback and data from your participants, or want some professional development support to help your staff learn tangible ways to be more mentor-like to the youth you serve. Programs that Work: A Summit for Supporting Youth Thriving through Resilience and Healing in the Context of Community Violence

Friday, September 22, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Join sponsors, UPMC Health Plan and Community Care Behavioral Health Organization, for Programs that Work: A Summit for Supporting Youth Thriving through Resilience and Healing in the Context of Community Violence. This event is offered at no cost and is best suited for community-based agencies and individuals in select geographic areas who have the consistent presence, recognition, and trust of the community for engagement with children, youth, and adults through their daily activities. Nominations Open for the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2023-24 All-Peer Team

TMP is teaming up with The Pittsburgh Steelers and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to build the second annual Steelers All-Peer Team featuring 11 high school football players from around the region who go above and beyond in providing mentor-like support for their teammates and other peers. Winners will celebrate during an on-field ceremony at a Steelers home game later this season and will also receive a $1,000 donation to their school’s athletic program. Mentor Chat is Back! 

Season 5 is here! Do you ever wonder how you can be a better mentor or caring adult to young people? Join Ashley & Sophia this season to talk about the Becoming a Better Mentor Guide: Strategies to Be There for Young People! You'll hear from special guests, learn real-life tips, and more! The first episode comes out on September 15th so check it out on our website or search "Mentor Chat" on all major podcast listening platforms.

 

Mentoring Day at Acrisure Stadium Recap

On Saturday, August 19th, people from all around Western PA gathered on the North Shore to celebrate the 2nd annual Mentoring Day at Acrisure Stadium. Thanks to the generosity of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Steelers' season ticket holders, TMP hosted more than 500 mentoring programs, mentors, and mentees. It was a great evening for mentoring champions and supporters to celebrate the start of a new school year. It was also a great start to the upcoming football season – the Steelers beat the Buffalo Bills 27-15! Click here to view the photos from the game!

 

2023 Moonshot Grant Applications are Open 

Since 2021, educators across Southwestern PA have been taking small steps and giant leaps toward their preferred future for learning with the help of a Moonshot Grant from Remake Learning. All applicants are required to attend an information session and can apply for up to $70,000. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2023. For more information, visit remakelearning.org/grants.
