Virtual Introduction to TMP Services & Elements of Effective Practice
Wednesday, October 16, 12-1:30pm
This 90-minute informational session is intended to introduce mentoring program staff to the technical assistance, training, and networking services provided by The Mentoring Partnership. The foundation of our services is based on the 16 Elements of Effective Practice, a collection of research-informed practices for youth mentoring programs. During this workshop, you will be introduced to those elements as a way to learn how The Mentoring Partnership can offer you ongoing support. Attending this training is also the first step in applying for technical assistance. Sessions are currently being done virtually. Click here to register.
October 2024 LENS Meeting – A Collaborative Approach to Supporting Student Success

Join us for this virtual LENS Meeting with Selena Morresi, Lead Student Assistance Specialist of Caron Treatment Centers. This LENS meeting will help adults understand trends in and identify youth substance use (including nicotine, cannabis, and alcohol), and provide them with a toolbox for having meaningful, productive conversations with youth for both prevention and interventions. In addition, it will provide resources and tools for supporting a young person who is affected by substance use in their family or in their community.

Importance of Collaboration in supporting Student Success
Current Trends in Youth Substance Use
Prevention and Early Intervention Strategies
Adolescent Brain Development and Its Role in Substance Use and Behavioral Health

November 2024 LENS: Youth Voice

Join us for this virtual LENS Meeting for a conversation on youth voice! Adelaide Moschler from MENTOR Independence Region will share tips for encouraging youth voice in programming. We will explore the Youth-Led Advocacy Guide and Chapter 8 of the Becoming a Better Mentor Guide - Honoring Youth Voice and Building Power. This conversation is a continuation from our Mentor Chat Podcast on Youth Voice. TMP will also share information about our revised Making the Most of Mentoring Training that can serve as a resource for your mentoring programs. Click here to register.
Training for Mentors and Mentees
Virtual Mentoring 101 Training
Saturday, October 12, 9:30am - 11:30am
Wednesday, October 23, 6pm - 8pm
This interactive training program provides participants with an introduction to mentoring and what to expect as a mentor. Topics like the "mentoring lifecycle," communication skills, establishing boundaries, and appreciating diversity will make it easier for mentors to navigate relationships with their mentees. This training is appropriate to introduce new volunteers to the field of mentoring and to refresh current mentors on best practices. You must be registered to attend. Registration will close once the training is full or 2 days before the scheduled session. Click here to register.

Are you looking to strengthen your program according to research-based youth mentoring best practices? Are you thinking of how to finesse your mentee and mentor recruitment strategy? Do you need help developing training for your volunteers? Would you like assistance in creating a logic model or evaluation tools?
To support programs and organizations that serve youth, TMP offers no-cost technical assistance through the National Mentoring Resource Center to provide resources and coaching on research-based best practices and strategies rooted in the nationally recognized Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring. Trained technical assistance providers at TMP can assist you and your program with topics such as program design, recruitment, mentor/mentee training, closure procedures, program evaluation, and many others!

18+ Opportunity: BGCWPA and Per Scholas BRIDGE Program Cohort
BGCWPA and Per Scholas are partnering for a fifth cohort of the Per Scholas BRIDGE program! This is an amazing opportunity for 18-24 year olds to get paid for training, earn certifications and receive personal support in employment seeking. Participants must have a HS diploma or GED. No tech experience is required!
The four-week BRIDGE program will take place in-person at McKeesport Teen Center. This portion of the program focuses on career development skills, study skills and beginner content to best prepare Learners to be successful in the rigorous Per Scholas IT Support Certification program. Learners will receive a $1200 stipend and a free laptop upon BRIDGE program completion. Apply here to get started.
