Training for Mentors and Mentees

Virtual Combatting White Saviorism

Tuesday, July 25, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Mentoring relationships and programs have the power to reproduce racial inequity. Mentors and mentoring programs have a moral obligation to do no harm to the youth and families engaged in their mentoring relationships and programs. In this workshop,  participants explore what white saviorism looks like as well as the harmful impact it has on youth. Participants will develop the ability to recognize white saviorism in mentoring relationships and programs and explore concrete strategies to combat its harmful effects. Space is limited. Registration will close once the training is full or 2 days before the scheduled session. Click here to register!

Disability Inclusion Month

Did you know that over three million youth in America are living with a disability? According to research, this population accounts for a sizable portion of the young people enrolled in our country’s mentoring programs. This July, in honor of the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we are celebrating Disability Inclusion Month and calling attention to the ways in which programs, both those working exclusively with youth with disabilities and those serving all youth, can offer accessible opportunities, services, and support. Visit MENTOR's Celebrating Disability Inclusion webpage to learn how mentoring can, and should, fit into efforts to support and empower youth with disabilities!
