Training for Mentors and Mentees

Virtual Mentoring 101 Training
Saturday, August 10, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, August 28, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

This interactive training program provides participants with an introduction to mentoring and what to expect as a mentor. Topics like the "mentoring lifecycle," communication skills, establishing boundaries, and appreciating diversity will make it easier for mentors to navigate relationships with their mentees. This training is appropriate to introduce new volunteers to the field of mentoring and to refresh current mentors on best practices. You must be registered to attend. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Friday, September 27, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Pittsburgh Promise Offices
1901 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219

Suitable for any adult working with youth, Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth.  This 8-hour training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.   

This course will be delivered in-person.  First Aiders will complete a 2-hour, self-paced online class and then participate in a 6-hour, instructor-led session.  Click here to register.

Abby will oversee our programmatic work with mentoring programs, school administrators, community leaders, and volunteers to ensure that high-quality mentoring is available and provided to youth in Western PA. Mentor Chat Podcast Season 6 is Here! 

TMP is excited to announce the release of Mentor Chat Season 6! Join Ashley and Sophia this season as they dive deeper into the Becoming a Better Mentor Guide! Episodes are released every other week and you can check them out on our website or by searching "Mentor Chat" on all major podcast listening platforms.

 

Save the Date: 2024 IMHOTEP Scholarship and Mentoring Golf Classic 

Monday, August 5, 7:00 a.m.

For the past 27 years, the 100 Black Men of Western Pennsylvania have sponsored the IMHOTEP Mentorship and Scholarship Golf Classic to fund their Mentoring and Student Scholarship programs. These programs help prepare disadvantaged African American youth in the Greater Pittsburgh area for post-secondary education and becoming productive citizens. Proceeds from the annual golf outing are the major source of funding, providing both mentorship and scholarships for graduating high school seniors and current college students. 3rd Annual Disability Pride Pittsburgh Celebration

Join Disability Pride Pennsylvania for their 3rd annual Disability Pride Pittsburgh celebration at Schenley Plaza! It will be a day filled with live entertainment, great resources, free swag, fun accessible games by the Ryan Shazier Fund, a sensory friendly room at Carnegie Library, guest speakers and community!
