The Power of Positive Affirmations
Lets do This
Affirmations can be a great way to model and teach youth about the power of a positive mindset. According to Dr. Kathryn J. Lively, "Affirmations are used to re-program the subconscious mind, to encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves or about the world and our place within it. They are also used to help us create the reality we want."
When talking to kids, let them know that their affirmations can focus on what they need in the moment. For example, if a child is lacking motivation, phrases such as, “I can accomplish anything I set my mind to,” or “I am capable of doing hard things” can serve as their affirmation before starting the day.
