The Benefits of Planning Ahead

When it gets dark earlier, staying motivated can be challenging. However, working together with your young person to plan ahead is a great way to stay on top of what's coming up, especially if there's something exciting on the horizon. Planning is especially important now as a change in seasons and the upcoming holidays might also mean shifts in schedules.

To begin planning, choose one day each week to sit down and review what's ahead. Start by noting regular events, such as Thursday soccer practices. Once those are on the calendar, check if there are any other important things during the week, like a day off from school or an upcoming important test. Planning in advance can help alleviate worries and keep everyone on track.

You can help your young person prepare for their week ahead by using your own schedule as an example. Make this activity more fun by using one of these pre-designed templates from Canva!
