Expand Possibilities

Teaching Youth About Local Libraries

March 1st marks the beginning of National Reading Month and March 2nd is National Reading Day! To help make this month a little more special, we are encouraging all caring adults and mentors to talk to the young people in their life about a great public resource - the library!

Libraries are a free resource and have so much to offer! In addition to books, many local libraries have:

  • Information and resources (as well as resource referral services)
  • Teen and marker spaces
  • Programming for all different ages
  • Homework help
  • Gaming
  • Community of peers
  • Safe place to hang out
  • Sometimes snack and/or meals (especially in the summer)

Share this information with the young people you know to get them excited about National Reading Month!
