Teaching Youth About Local Libraries
March 1st marks the beginning of National Reading Month and March 2nd is National Reading Day! To help make this month a little more special, we are encouraging all caring adults and mentors to talk to the young people in their life about a great public resource - the library!
Libraries are a free resource and have so much to offer! In addition to books, many local libraries have:
- Information and resources (as well as resource referral services)
- Teen and marker spaces
- Programming for all different ages
- Homework help
- Gaming
- Community of peers
- Safe place to hang out
- Sometimes snack and/or meals (especially in the summer)
Share this information with the young people you know to get them excited about National Reading Month!
