Supporting Career Exploration

Let's Do This

Summer is a great time to focus on career exploration! As a caring adult, there are many ways you can help your young person dive into the choices they have after high school...even while they are still in school. Here are some ways to support their journey:

  • Explore Interests: Help your young person identify what they enjoy and are passionate about. Whether it’s through a hobby or a school subject, these interests can provide insight into potential career paths.
  • Resume and Application Prep: For older kids, assisting with creating a resume for a part-time job or filling out college applications can make a big difference.
  • Expand Their Network: Help your young person build a network of contacts in fields they are interested in by introducing them to people you know. Facilitate informational interviews to help them learn more about specific careers.

Stay Inspired

Remember, your support and encouragement can make a significant difference in your young person’s future. For more resources and ideas on how to support career readiness, visit MENTOR’s College and Career Readiness webpage
