Reading to Start the New School Year Off Right
Let's Do This
Reading is important all year-round, but a new school year provides the perfect opportunity to set some goals around books you want to read and progress you want to make! Work with your young person to set an age-appropriate goal. For older youth, maybe it's reading a certain number of books each month or trying a new genre of literature. For younger kids, maybe it's choosing fun books that you can read together or creating flash cards to learn new sight words. Be intentional in helping youth think through how they can best incorporate reading time into their schedules. Reflecting on books they've read, as well as charting progress throughout the year can also help young people stick with a reading routine they enjoy!
