Love Your Library Month

September is Love Your Library Month! Public libraries are a community staple. Not only are they free to the people they serve, but they also offer many resources. In honor of Love Your Library month, talk to the young people in your life about the special things libraries offer in addition to books. Here are some perks you can share to get the conversation started:

  • Tutoring – Need a little extra help in school? Check your local library to see if they offer tutoring.
  • Summer Programs and Events for Kids – Programs like these can become costly, but most libraries offer free events and programs for kids.
  • Free Access to Paid Subscriptions – Libraries have access to many databases, but sometimes they have access to other sorts of subscriptions such as Ancestry.com or streaming services.
  • Classes and Clubs – Interested in learning something new? Visit your library to take a CPR class or join a knitting club to add to your skill set.

The Love Your Library Month campaign was created by the Allegheny County Library Association and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. To find a library near you, click here.
