Social media can have a big impact on a person’s mental health. Like many factors, social media has both pros and cons that we should all be mindful of. That’s why it is important for young users to establish safe and healthy social media habits early on. To help young people feel protected online, share these four tips with them:
- Check your mood before going on social media
- Unfriend/block/unfollow individuals who can be toxic
- Utilize the account and privacy settings with each device or app
- Protect your private information on public sites
