Easing Worries and Setting Goals for the New School Year
Let's Do This
With July coming to an end and back-to-school season getting closer each day, it might be time to sit down with your young person to talk about the upcoming school year. Help address any worries they may have – maybe they are going to a new school this year or one of their friends will no longer be in their class. Validate their worries and help to get them under control.
One way to get a child excited for the year ahead is to help them set some goals. Start with a refresher lesson on SMART goals and give them some prompts to help them think through what they want to achieve. Ask them to think through caring adults in their network who can help them reach their goals.
