Helping Young People Feel Calm in Uncertain Times
Let's Do This
Uncertainty can be hard—for all of us. It’s even harder for young people, especially when life feels out of control. As a caring adult, you don’t need to fix everything. But you can stay calm and share simple ways to help the young people in your life feel better.
Find time this week to check in with a young person who seems worried or upset. You can ask: “What’s one small thing you can do today to feel more in control?” Then share your own example. A small moment like this can make a big difference.
Stay Inspired
Therapists say one helpful tip is to focus on what you can control. That might be getting a good night’s sleep, going outside for a few minutes, or cleaning your space. When things feel too big, help a young person choose one small step—and take it together.
